CALGARY/TORONTO — Two of Canada’s most recognized brands are joining forces. WestJet Airlines and Canadian Tire Corporation announced a strategic partnership Wednesday that will allow customers to earn and redeem loyalty points across both companies’ programs, creating one of the most comprehensive retail-airline rewards networks in the country.
Partnership Details
Starting May 1, 2026, members of WestJet Rewards and Canadian Tire Money (CTM) will be able to convert points between programs at a rate of 1,000 WestJet dollars to 1,500 CTM dollars, and vice versa. The partnership also enables members to earn points on purchases across both ecosystems.

Expanded Benefits
The partnership extends beyond simple point conversion. WestJet Rewards members will now earn points on purchases at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark’s, and Party City stores nationwide. Similarly, CTM members can earn rewards when booking WestJet flights, vacation packages, and partner airline tickets.
Elite WestJet Rewards members will receive bonus earning opportunities at Canadian Tire locations, while Triangle World Elite Mastercard holders will enjoy priority boarding and free checked bags on WestJet flights.
Market Impact
Industry analysts view the partnership as a strategic response to the competitive loyalty landscape. The combination creates a network of more than 1,700 retail locations and 180 destinations served by WestJet.
“This is a smart move that enhances value for consumers while strengthening both brands’ market positions,” said travel industry analyst Robert Kokonis of AirTrav Inc.
