Ningbo, China – April 24, 2025 – The 2025 “In Zhejiang, Connecting the World” media tour officially commenced in Ningbo on Wednesday, bringing together 28 representatives from overseas Chinese media outlets spanning 18 countries across five continents.
Jointly organized by the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, along with its counterparts in Ningbo and Zhoushan, the initiative aims to deepen international engagement by showcasing Zhejiang’s economic development, cultural heritage, and innovative industries.

At the opening ceremony, Hu Huilei, Vice Chair of the Zhejiang Federation, welcomed the delegation and outlined Zhejiang’s growing global role. He characterized the province through three themes: its accelerating economic momentum, its rich and enduring civilization, and the deep patriotic spirit of its overseas Chinese communities.
Hu also presented three key goals for strengthening ties with overseas Chinese media:
Fostering Global Openness – By encouraging overseas media to help attract talent and investment, Hu called for the construction of an “Innovation Silk Road” to connect Zhejiang with global resources. Enhancing Cultural Exchange – He emphasized the need for collaborative storytelling to break down barriers and promote greater understanding of Zhejiang’s unique identity and China’s cultural voice. Strengthening Overseas Ties – Hu urged overseas Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs to act as ambassadors for Zhejiang innovation, while supporting Belt and Road cooperation and contributing to a shared future for humanity.
Zou Lingling, Director of the Department of Cultural Exchange and Information Communication, presented the official event flag to the media representatives. Industry leaders—including Wang Weiping (Editor-in-Chief of Qiao Wang Network in Italy), Zhang Yibo (Editor-in-Chief of World Chinese News), and Xie Ying (Director at Zhejiang Business magazine)—shared remarks on the evolving role of overseas Chinese media, innovation in content creation, and strategies for expanding international reach.
During the five-day program, the media delegation will visit key sites in Ningbo and Zhoushan, exploring local culture, industries, and technological innovation through field interviews and on-site reporting. Stops include the historic Ningbo Old Bund, the Asia Sailing Centre, and leading enterprises such as Ginlong Technologies and Ningbo Haishangxian.
Prior to the launch, the group toured the China Floral Art Museum and the Zhejiang University Alumni Innovation Park. Their reports and multimedia coverage will spotlight Zhejiang’s contribution to China’s modernization and offer global audiences a closer look at the province’s role in the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road.
