Global Chinese-language media delegation to visit southeast Chongqing

Chongqing, China — More than 30 Chinese-language media outlets from around the world, along with a group of overseas Chinese community leaders, are set to take part in a multi-day visit to southeast Chongqing beginning April 15.

The delegation will travel through the Wuling Mountain region, including Wulong District, Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, and Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County — areas known for their ethnic diversity and ecological significance.

Participants are expected to visit local industries, cultural sites and rural communities, with a focus on economic development, tourism and efforts tied to rural revitalization. Organizers say the trip will also provide opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, particularly in areas such as investment and international engagement.

Chongqing, a major city in southwest China, is the country’s only municipality at the provincial level in its western region. Its southeastern areas, located along the Wuling Mountains, are home to several ethnic minority communities and are considered important for biodiversity conservation.

The visit is part of the “Walking in China” program, an initiative that has brought overseas Chinese media to various regions across the country since 2008. Previous trips have included destinations such as Tibet, Xinjiang, Shanghai and Yunnan, often with a focus on regional development and cultural exchange.

The delegation is expected to produce coverage throughout the trip, sharing stories and perspectives from the region with international audiences.
