Three Canadian Universities Rank in Global Top 50 Across All Subjects

Three Canadian universities have achieved impressive global recognition by ranking among the world’s top 50 institutions across all five academic subject areas, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

The University of Toronto leads Canadian institutions, placing 14th in Arts and Humanities, 17th in Engineering and Technology, 12th in Life Sciences and Medicine, 16th in Natural Sciences, and 15th in Social Sciences and Management.

The University of British Columbia follows closely, ranking 23rd in Arts and Humanities, 29th in Engineering and Technology, 25th in Life Sciences and Medicine, 22nd in Natural Sciences, and 18th in Social Sciences and Management.

McGill University in Montreal also secured top 50 positions across all categories, ranking 35th in Arts and Humanities, 41st in Engineering and Technology, 28th in Life Sciences and Medicine, 39th in Natural Sciences, and 32nd in Social Sciences and Management.

The QS rankings evaluate over 1,900 institutions worldwide across 55 narrow subjects within five broad areas. Rankings are based on criteria including employability, research output, and global engagement.
