Trump Proposes U.S. Control Over Gaza, Suggests Permanent Displacement of Palestinians

In a recent press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled a controversial plan to take control of the Gaza Strip. Trump expressed his desire for the U.S. to own and redevelop Gaza, transforming it into a prosperous region, likening it to the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He proposed that Palestinians living in Gaza be permanently relocated to other areas, citing the current instability and ongoing violence in the region.

“We will own it and be responsible for dismantling dangerous explosives and other weapons,” Trump said, emphasizing that U.S. involvement would not be temporary. He also hinted at the possibility of deploying U.S. troops to secure the region, adding that the U.S. would focus on rebuilding Gaza’s infrastructure, providing housing, and creating jobs.

Netanyahu supported Trump’s ideas, calling them “fresh” and “outside the box,” but the proposal has sparked widespread opposition. Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. ally, has strongly rejected any displacement of Palestinians. Additionally, many in the region, including the Palestinian Authority, argue that such a move would violate international law and could lead to further destabilization.

Trump’s suggestion comes amid the aftermath of the devastating Israel-Hamas war, which has caused significant casualties and displacement in Gaza. While some of Trump’s proposals align with Israel’s far-right agenda, they contradict former President Joe Biden’s stance against the mass displacement of Palestinians.

Critics, including Hamas, have condemned the plan, calling it an act of “ethnic cleansing” and warning that it could ignite further conflict in the already volatile Middle East. The situation remains tense, with Palestinians continuing to seek a path to rebuild their homes and lives within Gaza.
